William Predweshny Obituary

William Andrew Predweshny of East Bethel, died on Sat, May 17, 2025, at the age of 86. Bill was born in Kiev, Ukraine on June 8, 1938, where he lived until his family fled to Germany to escape the war. His family lived in a DP Camp for 6 years until they were able to leave aboard the ‘General Black’ ship that landed at Ellis Island in 1949. They ended up in Chicago, IL for about a year and then his dad found work on a farm in Onamia, MN where they all worked for a brief period of time. His family eventually settled in So. Mpls where Bill graduated from South High School in 1958. He worked as a Dishwasher at Daytons where he saved enough money to buy his first car – a 1958 Pontiac Bonneville. It was during this time that he met Ardie, whom he married on Dec 15, 1961, at Central Free Church. His first-born daughter, Tasia, was born in 1962, followed by Lisa in 1964.

Bill and Ardie were members of First Free Church in So. Mpls where the family attended church. Bill often lingered in the back to talk with ushers or any latecomers or you would find him in the kitchen making coffee for Fellowship hour or helping with cleanup. Bill worked most of his career at The Toro Company in Bloomington, MN where he started out in the Parts Department and retired from Shipping and Receiving after 30 dedicated years.

He worked hard to provide and care for his family – and his home. His favorite pastime was mowing his lawn, and the neighbor’s lawns. He had a huge heart – especially when it came to his grandchildren … and food. He loved to cook for his family and others. Bill did not like to socialize much, but once you got him in front of people, he loved to talk and was the life of the party. He enjoyed talking about history or politics and sharing stories or a silly joke or comment that would make you either laugh..or groan. During his last few days, he told everyone, “When God has some work for me to do, He’ll call me up.”

Bill is preceded in death by his wife Ardie on August 28th, 2024, his parents, Andrew and Motra Predvichny, his father/mother-in-law, Joseph and Anna Fredman, his son-in-law Timothy Gross, and nephew Todd Predvichny. Bill is survived by his 2 daughters Tasia Gross and Lisa Predweshny, 3 grandchildren Kile (Michelle) Gross, Kori (Clifford) Schrader, Joe (Liisa Rudy) Predweshny, 6 great-grandchildren, his brother Nicholas Predvichny and niece Dawn Predvichny.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff at Cedar Creek Senior Living for their care over the past few years.

A Celebration of Life w/BBQ lunch will be held on Wed, May 28th from 11:30-1:30 PM at Cedar Creek Senior Living, 19131 Taylor St NE, East Bethel, MN. Please join the family as we remember and celebrate Bill’s life.
