Obituary

Wendell Clark Nelson, 87, of Andover passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

He was born September 17, 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Elmer and June (Stafford) Nelson.  Wendell attended school in Columbia Heights where he graduated from high school.

On August 29, 1958, Wendell was united in marriage to Shirley Amen at Elim Baptist Church in Minneapolis, and they were very happily married for 63 years. They had two children, Greg   and Vicki.

Wendell enjoyed his many years as an appliance installer for Minnegasco, and he retired in 1991.

Wendell was well-known for the beautiful old cars he restored, and summer trips were touring the five-state region with the Plymouth Club.

Strong faith in the Lord was at the center of their marriage. Wendell and Shirley were always very involved in serving and growing spiritually in their local church. After moving to Andover         in 2005, they began attending Constance Evangelical Free Church where they made many special friends, particularly among the members of the Prime Timers.

He was preceded in death by his son Greg in March of 2014.  Wendell is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Vicki (Michael) Barrett of Andover, five grandchildren Allie (Colyn) Davis, Eric   (Alisa) Nelson, Teagan Nelson, Caleb (Sarah) Barrett, and Jenna Barrett, five great grandchildren Freyda, Arthur, Shirley, Kenny and Keira.
