Thomas D. Burdick

Thomas D. Burdick “Tom” age 63 of Isanti County area passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 9, 2021.  We lost a gentle and loving soul, who always made time for anyone in need.

Tom was born April 17, 1958 to Gene and Norma Jean Burdick in Ortonville, MN.

He attended grade school and high School in Ortonville and graduated in the Class of 1976.  After high school, Tom went to Hutchinson Community College to obtain his welding degree in 1977.  Tom met the love of his life, Debra Moberg, daughter of Carlton and Anna Moberg, at the Sioux Historic Roller Rink.  They were married on June 30, 1979 at the Elim Lutheran Church in Clinton, MN.  Shortly after marriage, they moved to Coon Rapids to start their lives together, Tom trucked as a grain hauler while Deb continued her nursing degree.

Tom moved the family to Elk River in 1980 to become the Shop Manager at the Elk River Landfill.  After spending many years as a heavy equipment mechanic and manager, he struck out on his own as an independent heavy equipment mechanic.  While continuing as a mechanic, Tom found work as an equipment manager for two private construction companies.

Tom was a patriot and war history buff, and in his words “a warehouse of useless information.”  He loved Mopar muscle cars, horses, boating and flying.  The greatest loves of his life were his devoted wife, children and extended family.

He is survived by his loving wife Deb; children Amanda (Grant) Strom, Jessica (Rob) Kohl, Lindsey Burdick ( s.o. Nsanyuy Jogwuia) and Tony Burdick.

Proud Grandfather of: Griffin Strom and Preston Kohl.

Also survived by his sisters Linda Anderson and Karla (George) Van Lith; brother Tim (Karen) Burdick, brother-in-law Rod (Mary) Moberg, nieces Sara and Kristine; nephews Bruce, Brian and Travis; Brandon and Brian Moberg and many other great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, and nephew Wesley Burdick

Funeral service 1 PM Monday May 17, 2021 at Cambridge Lutheran Church 621 Old North Main St. Cambridge.

Visitation 2 to 5 PM Sunday at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home 311 S. Ashland St. Cambridge  763-689-2244 and 1 hour prior to service at the church on Monday.

Interment 1 PM Tuesday at Clinton Cemetery, Clinton, MN
