Stanley Blegen Obituary

Stanley Arthur Blegen, 75, of St. Cloud, MN passed away on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 at Centra Care Hospital in St. Cloud.

Stanley was born May 17th, 1949 in Staples, Minnesota to Harold Sr. and Betty (Greenwood) Blegen. He moved to New Brighton, MN in 1954 with his parents and younger brother Jerry.

In 1968, Stanley started his family, which included two daughters, Tracy and Tina.

As a young adult, Stanley traveled to Alaska to work on the oil rigs. Stanley would often talk about this location and experience as being one of the fondest of his memories. After Alaska, Stan moved back to Minnesota where he remarried and added four more daughters. Stanley was a jack of all trades, being described as able to “fix anything”.

Adventure is something that Stanley found in life. In his younger years, Stanley enjoyed riding motorcycles. In his final year, he teased that his goal was to grow out his hair and purchase a new motorcycle. On his 75th birthday, he settled for a jeep ride and a haircut with two of his grandsons.

Stanley would frequently joke around about having “six ishy daughters” with a loving grin. Teasing his family was something that gave Stanley great joy. Until his final days, he was still joking around with his grandsons and teasing the nurses, always with a smile on his face.

Stanley was a great outdoorsman. He could spend all day outside hunting or fishing. He enjoyed spending time with those that he loved and sharing his passion for the outdoors in this way.

He loved all his children dearly, but his grandchildren most.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, sister Patricia Blegen, brother Jerry Blegen, nephew Matthew Blegen and close cousin Tommy Wawers.

He is survived by six daughters, Tracy Blegen, Tina Lessard, Jamie (Josh) Platt, Amanda Peterson, Elicia (Jared) Willson and Reanna (Josh) Moulzolf; twelve grandchildren, Krista, Cindy, Gregory, Riley, Brady, Brody, Grady, Ozzy, Emily, Libby, Ethan and Lucas; three great grandchildren, Sophia, Corali and Finnley; sisters, Betty Ann Halverson and Mary Ann Lindner; brother Harold Blegen Jr.; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
