Scott Palm Obituary

Scott Robert Palm, M.D., 71, of Cambridge, Minnesota passed away unexpectantly on Thursday, July 8, 2021.  His death was caused suspectedly by ventricular tachycardia.

He was born on January 15, 1950 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Dr. Neil and Mariellen (Frank) Palm.  Scott graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and went onto the University of Minnesota Medical School earning his M.D. Degree.  He was Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Anesthesiology.  Scott retired from the University of Minnesota Hospitals.

Scott enjoyed many friendships throughout his life sharing his humor and story-telling.  He loved being involved in many experiences.  He showed his athletic strength and love for life through competitive swimming, downhill skiing, heli-skiing, taking on the steep slopes of the Alps, scuba diving, running marathons, bicycling along the Tour de France route and in Italy ascents, plus canopy ziplining in Costa Rico.  Fishing and hunting were shared interests with family and friends.  Music was an important part of Scott’s life. He appreciated the sounds and rhythms of baroque, 40’s crooners, reggae, classic rock and more.

After retirement he moved to Lake Elizabeth in Cambridge, MN where he enjoyed the surrounding natural habitat with the calling of loons, trumpeting of swans, bald eagles clipping through the trees on his lakeshore, feeding the baby ducklings, kayaking, and the shoring up of pontoon boats for a lake group swim.  His lake friends offered much spontaneity to his life.

Scott was looking forward to taking a road trip to visit friends in Colorado, international travel to Asia and Europe including relatives in Scandinavia, and new journeys.  At times he had a spontaneous approach to life which added merriment, wonderment and a great sense of exploration.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Brian Palm.  He is survived by his sister Sheila Palm of Eagan, brother Todd Palm of Inver Grove, nephew Dan Wenz (Anne Saxton) of St. Louis Park, niece Julie (Palm) Manley (Jerome) of Edina, as well as many other relatives and friends.  Scott was single at the time of his death following two marriages.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Fall.
