Sara Ann Anderson, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024, at the age of 62 in St. Francis, MN, after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Born on May 23, 1962, in Moorhead, MN, to John and Sigrid Schulstad.
Sara's journey led her from the halls of Mounds View High School, where she graduated in 1980, to a brief tenure at the University of Wisconsin - Stout. Her professional path was marked by meaningful work with Lutheran Brotherhood, ING, and, for the last decade, Summit Orthopedic. Her dedication to her career was matched by her pride in her 100% Norwegian heritage.
On October 2, 1998, Sara married the love of her life, Tom Anderson, in a beautiful ceremony at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Woodbury. Together, they built two homes in St. Francis, where they created memories since 1998. Sara's life took a challenging turn in 2003 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Nevertheless, she faced the disease with courage and a positive outlook that inspired everyone around her.
She found joy and tranquility in the sun and on the water, whether it was tubing down the river or fishing with unwavering patience. Her love for her family was unparalleled; she was a constant presence at her grandchildren's activities, cheering them on and celebrating their achievements. Sara's love for wrestling matches was especially prominent, as she never missed an opportunity to enjoy her favorite taco in a bag with her family during those exciting events. In fact, taco in a bag became a holiday tradition in the Anderson household, thanks to Sara's fondness for this simple pleasure.
Sara is survived by her devoted husband, Tom Anderson; her adoring children, Mandy (Matt) Njos and Josh (Melissa) Anderson; her cherished eight grandchildren, Matthew (Marissa) Njos, Colby, Mackenzie and Lainey Njos, Brayden, Carter, Isabelle, and Grace Anderson; and her three great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Raymond, and Levi. Sara's love also extended to her siblings, Lorie (Tom) Werk, Mary Weisser, Carol Schulstad, and brother John Schulstad.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Schulstad.
Sara will be profoundly missed, but her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her. The family wishes to thank Triniti Hospice and the wonderful care given to Sara.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
