Roger Lee Johnson, 88, of Woodland, AL passed away on Thursday December 26, 2024, at his home.
Roger was born in Minneapolis, MN April 29, 1936, to John and Harriet (Englund) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 9 years as an air traffic controller, enjoyed a lengthy career in sales and finally retired from Maricopa County, where he worked in Planning and Development. He spent many years in Arizona and loved to hike the areas trails and canyons, including the Grand Canyon, often leading backpacking and camping trips. After he retired, he spent time as a seasonal worker at Yellowstone National Park where he met Annette. Soon they were married and moved to Alabama where he would spend his remaining years.
Roger and Annette attended Noon Day Christian Church. He was recently recognized as a 50-year member of the Freemasons.
Roger is survived by his wife Annette and her loving family, daughter Sherry Zdunko (Rich), son Kerry Crowe and grandchildren Stephanie Crowe (Kenneth Gray), Lauren Sanchez and Jacob Sanchez, his sons Steven (Sherry) Johnson, Scott (Jamie) Johnson, daughter Lisa (Jeff) Brecht, grandchildren Sara (Chad) Larsen, Shawn (Hannah) Johnson, Alison (Cory) Rose, Randy (Karen) Johnson, Josh (Kelsey) Brecht, Lindsay Brecht and Lydia Brecht and great grandchildren Rylie, Nora, Charlie, Piper, Axel, Henry, Mia, Warren and Leighton.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, John and Harriet, his brother Richard (Dick) Johnson and Annette’s son Barry Crowe.
Roger will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery Minneapolis, Minnesota at a future date.
