Robert L. Siems, 82, of Cambridge, MN passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Prairie Senior Cottages in Isanti.
He was born December 28, 1942 in Beatrice, Nebraska to Willis and Beatrice (Lancaster) Siems. Robert grew up in Pickrell, NE and graduated from Cortland High School in 1962. He enlisted in the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. Following his return, he served in the Army Reserve for nine months and received an honorable discharge.
On August 30, 1966 he was united in marriage to Nancy Eckel in Herkimer, Kansas. They made their home in Pickrell and Beatrice, Nebraska, where they welcomed two children and in 1969, they moved to Brooklyn Park and later completed their family with their third child. Robert loved fishing in the Cambridge area and in 1979 the family moved to Cambridge.
Robert worked in the paper industry, working as a truck driver and in the warehouse. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 638 and served as Union Steward for several years. He retired in 2000 after 30 years of service.
Robert enjoyed spending time in his extensive flower and vegetable gardens and volunteered with the 4-H Garden. He loved fishing and hunting. Over the years he was on a bowling team and enjoyed throwing horseshoes with his father Willis. Robert was a hard worker and an excellent provider for his family. He loved spending time with his family and was especially fond of his grandchildren. He and Nancy made several trips over the years throughout the U.S., several times visiting family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger, Bill and Wayne.
Robert is survived by his wife; Nancy, son, Tony Siems; daughters, Rochelle (Brian) Durgin, Colleen Siems; five grandchildren, Allison (David) Ramsey, Payge Goldman, Celeste Goldman, Emily Durgin, Zach Durgin; three great grandchildren, Samuel and Rayden Ramsey, and Owen Howard; sister, Joyce Lienemann; sister-in-law, Linda Siems; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Service 1PM, Friday, June 13, 2025 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 12:30. Interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
