Richard Hansen Obituary

Richard Charles Hansen, 93, A warm and wonderful man has moved on to his next adventure. Richard passed away at home in Bradford on August 18, 2025, at the age of 93. He was a humble man of integrity and lived by his word. He saw himself as a steward of the land and taught his children, grandchildren, and anybody that would lend an ear to appreciate the land and be thankful for what it provides.

He was born January 1, 1932 in Maple Ridge Township, Minnesota to Hans and Pearl (Buchanan) Hansen.

He was a long-time employee of the Cornelius Company and a lifetime farmer. After graduating from Cambridge High School in 1950.  Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army as a medic, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After his discharge he returned home and purchased land adjacent to his parents.

He married Jean Hoversten on May 18, 1957. In 1961, Jean and Richard built their home where they farmed and lived for the next 64 years.

He was a strong believer in the power of community, and gave back through his dedicated involvement in various associations. This included serving on the Long Lake Lutheran Church council, contributing 38 years on the Bradford Township Board, 28 years on the Springvale Insurance Board, and many years on the Nicholas Cemetery board. Richard strove to find common ground for the improvement of the township and made sure the cemetery was well maintained, ensuring flags were placed on veteran graves each Memorial Day. He was passionate about his family, farming, and hunting. He brought home venison almost every year, right into his 90s.Those who knew Richard were fortunate to witness a man who lived by example.  His legacy is one that continues to inspire his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Pearl Hansen, sisters and spouses Ruth (Harold) Bergdahl, Pearl (Matt) Beckers, brother and spouse Donald (Marlene) Hansen.

Richard is survived by his wife Jean, children Terry Hansen (Roxann Erickson) of Bradford, Amy (Rick) Wolf of Chaska, Peter Hansen of Bradford, Paul (Verna Marina Ehret) Hansen of Erie, PA, four grandchildren, Abby (Cullen) Wolf-Price, Ally (Joe Luksik) Hansen, Dara (Trevor) Doden, Henry Wolf; two great grandchildren, Isla and Adalie Doden many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
