Reuben Johnson Obituary

Reuben Norris Johnson, 83, of Cambridge passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at his home.
He was born January 8, 1923 in Springvale Township, Isanti County, Minnesota to Adrian and Hattie Florence (Coleman) Johnson. He grew up on the family farm in Springvale. Reuben attended country school in Springvale and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1941. After high school Reuben enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1944 and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged in June 1946. He returned to the home farm where he continued farming with his family. Reuben and his brother Carl would go on to take over the family dairy farm which they ran together for many years until Reuben completely took it over.
In 1957 Reuben was united in marriage to Jeanne Haagenstad at Cambridge Lutheran Church. They made their home on the farm, Jeanne was a book writer and Reuben continued running the farm. Jeanne died in an auto accident in November 1971.
In 1991 Reuben retired from farming and moved into Pine Village where he has since lived.
He was a longtime member of Cambridge Lutheran Church, the VFW and was on the board of the Cambridge Hospital, was a Grange Member for over 60 years. Reuben enjoyed traveling, especially the trips he made to the Scandinavian countries.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeanne, and brothers Carl and Robert.
Reuben is survived by sister-in-law Lois Johnson of Cambridge, cousin Kirmet (Darlene) Dahlgren of Cambridge, nieces Karen Johnson, Carmen (Edmund) Lisi, nephews James (Kathy) Johnson, and David Johnson all of Arizona, 6 great nieces and nephews, 16 great great and great great great nieces and nephews, and many other cousins and relatives.
