Raymond H. Gustafson, age 89, of Cambridge,Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 24, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years MaryAnn; parents Carl “Hugo” and Sally Gustafson; brothers, Karl Gustafson, Robert (Caroline) Gustafson; grandson, Jeremiah Gustafson and great-grandson, Winston Gustafson.
Ray is survived by his children, Jody (Greg) Marx, Jackie (Greg) Duvall-Smith and David (Patt) Gustafson; grandchildren, Benjamin (Kat) Marx, Joshua (Mikalah) Marx, Gabriel Smith, Caleb Smith, Sarah (Matt) Domboski, Nicholas (Alix) Blix, Paul Kohler, Jarrod (Sarah) Gustafson, Samantha (Nathen) Erickson and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Ray was a proud Navy veteran who served on the USS Independent CVA-62
He worked for Sears-Roebuck for 37 years as a service technician in Minneapolis, retiring at the house he had built on the land of the family cabin on Crow Wing Lake in Brainerd. Ray enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fixing things and spending time with his family (along with their canine friends)
Ray was deeply loved by his family, friends and community.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday November 27, 2024 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home 311 S. Ashland St. Cambridge, MN.
Friends may gather 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Private urn placement in a niche at MN Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Ripley, Little Falls, MN.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
