Stewart Coleman, 97, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Cambridge Medical Center.

Raymond Stewart Coleman was born June 28, 1923 at home in Springvale Township, Minnesota to Raymond and Alida (Sodergren) Coleman.  Stewart grew up on the home farm and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1941.  After high school he stayed home and worked on the farm.

On September 24, 1949 he was united in marriage to Allene Hanson at Cambridge Lutheran Church.  They made their home in Springvale and raised two children.

Stewart worked for the Springvale Telephone Company putting up telephone lines. In 1960 he purchased the family farm and milked cows until 1965.   He worked construction in Minneapolis and helped build many of the bridges and later worked at the Twin Cities Arsenal until the end of the Vietnam War.  Stewart returned to farming and also worked for Isanti County as a heavy equipment operator, grading and plowing roads.  In 1978 he retired and stayed on the farm.  Stewart continued to help his son Craig and nephew Gordon Fredeen farming until the age of 89.  He spent the last five years in assisted living at GracePointe Crossing.

Stewart was a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the District #29 Franklin School Board.  He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and mowing his yard.  He shot his last deer at the age of 90 and never needed to wear glasses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Allene in December 2016, infant brother Rueben, sisters Connie Kastner and Willette Fredeen and brother Burton Coleman.

Stewart is survived by his son Craig and wife Mary Coleman of Edina, daughter Barbara Coleman of Largo, FL, granddaughter Anna Coleman of Longmont, CO, special niece Linda (Bruce) Mickelson of Cambridge, as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
