Marlene Emery (nee Newman), 90 years of age, of Cambridge (formerly of Brooklyn Center), Minnesota, passed away on November 3, 2022 in Cambridge, Minnesota.
Marlene was born on June 30, 1932, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Marvin and Clara Newman. The family moved to Dazey, North Dakota where Marlene attended and graduated from Dazey High School.
Marlene married James E. Emery on September 23, 1950. Marlene and Jim lived and worked on the family farm in Ashtabula Township, North Dakota for a brief time, moved to Valley City, followed by the Twin Cities, Fargo, Aberdeen, and returned to live in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota in 1971. Marlene raised four children and was a homemaker most of her life, occasionally working outside the home with various companies, including K.W. McKee and Schaper Toys.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, James; her daughter, Marla Ocheltree (Paul); her brother, Everett Newman; her father, Marvin Newman; her mother, Clara Gyberg; and her stepfather, Ole Gyberg.
Marlene is survived by her sons: Glen Emery, D.J. (Lisa) Emery, and C.J. (Elizabeth) Emery, as well as her son-in-law, Paul Ocheltree. She is survived by many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Marla and Paul’s family: Toni (Eric) Shell, Raegann and Lochlan; Amanda (David) Madison, Rachel, Abigail, and Penelope; Amy (Gavin) Ball, Rockton, Ryker, and Ronan. Glen’s family: Jason (Emily), James, and Allison; Brent (Amanda). D.J. and Lisa’s family: Heidi and son, Brodie; James (Alexandra) and Emmett. C.J. and Elizabeth’s family: Ethan, Rose, and Pierce.
Pallbearers will be: Jason Emery, Brent Emery, David Madison and Bruce Emery
Honorary Pallbearers include: James Emery, Ethan Emery, Pierce Emery, James Dvorak, Gavin Ball, Troy Newman, Russell Emery and Craig Newman
Memorials may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Funeral Service 11AM, Monday, November 14, 2022 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment at Mound Cemetery in Brooklyn Center.
