Michael Nelson, age 77, and Carol Nelson, age 79, passed away (individually) in Cambridge, MN, surrounded by family.
Mike donated his body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program.
Mike and Carol shared basically a whole lifetime together. Meeting as young children on Rush Lake where their parents each had cabins.
Mike and Carol were united into marriage on April 7, 1967. They raised their family on a hobby farm in Rush Point.
They enjoyed raising their two children Joe and Heidi in the country. They spent their lives surrounded by their family and dogs. Over the years they had enjoyed running agility with their dogs, showing goats, spending time riding horses and traveling with friends out west trail riding. Wild River State Park was their favorite place to walk trails with the dogs and family, often enjoying an ice cream cone afterwards.
Mike served in the US Navy and was a hardworking laborer/bricklayer for 40 years. He loved to charm people with his jokes and quick wit. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whether it was building a fence, deck, basement or shed he was the one to call. Carol was a homemaker and worked part-time outside the home at a local bakery. She poured her heart and soul into their animals.
They are survived by children Joe Nelson (Linda George) Hayward, WI, Heidi (Bob) Guetschoff, Cambridge, MN; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service for Michael and Carol will be held at 11AM, Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Military Honors for Michael follow the service. Interment at a later date in Rush Lake Baptist Cemetery of Rush Point.
