Michael Dean Colbaugh, 65, of Isanti, MN passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Methodist Campus of Mayo Hospital in Rochester.
He was born January 31, 1960 in Medford, Oregon to Donald and Anita (Bergman) Colbaugh. When Mike was 8 years old the family moved to Isanti to be closer to Anita’s family. Mike grew up helping his dad in the family cabinet shop. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1978.
On March 22, 1979 he and Mary Wilson drove through a blizzard to Watertown, South Dakota to get married. They were blessed with nine children. In 1981 the couple began selling wood crafts at craft shows because the cabinet business was slow soon after they began doing countertops and laminate cabinets. In 1988, Mike’s dad retired and his brother Mark moved to Bethel to take over that shop, while Mike and Mary stayed in the original shop building where they worked for 45 years. Mike was a phenomenal craftsman.
He helped coach his son’s traveling basketball team and ran the Saturday morning open gym for years. Mike loved hunting and fishing and shared that love with his children. All of his kids grew up fishing together on that same boat. Mike and Mary were members of Cross Pointe Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Matt.
Mike is survived by his wife Mary, children Lee Colbaugh of Pine City, Jason (Kelsey) Colbaugh of Brainerd, Amy (Austin) Saunders of Cambridge, Stephanie Colbaugh of Fridley, Jessica Colbaugh of Sioux City, Michael (Kalynda) Colbaugh of Cambridge, Andrew Colbaugh of Bemidji, Danny (Kate) Colbaugh of Isanti, Crystal Colbaugh of Fridley, Bobby Buzzell of Isanti, 14 grandchildren, brother Mark (Jeannie) Colbaugh of Isanti, uncle Ron (Carol) Bergman of Cambridge, other relatives and friends.
