Marlene Biggins Obituary

Marlene Marian Biggins, 88, of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in Cambridge, MN.

She was born on May 15, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN to Ullen and Alma (Olson) Johnston.  Marlene grew up on a farm west of Cambridge where she helped on the farm and rode her horse, Goldie, on the Rum River bottom.  She attended West Riverside School where she had many fond memories including starring in the Christmas play.  In her early teen years, she worked at Cambridge Cleaners and the Doodlebug Café, where she met her husband.

On August 3, 1954, she married Thomas (Tunny) Franklin Biggins, Sr. and to this union 3 children were born – Thomas, Jerry and Wendy.  While being a mother and caretaker of her children, she went to work at the Cambridge State Hospital in SPS and later in shipping and receiving for several years, along with working at the Arlington Restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas (Tunny); son Jerry Biggins; parents Ullen and Alma Johnston; sister Pearl (Joe) Theising and brother Fredrick (Sharon) Johnston.

Marlene is survived by her children Thomas (Jean) Biggins, Jr. and Wendy Kay (Gregory) Johnson; grandchildren Christopher (Jennifer) Johnson, Alecia (Jeffrey) Hanson-Gronneberg, Amanda (Erik) Wilson; Ryan (Mandy) Biggins, Kayelyn (Rhett) McDonald and Braden (Olivia) Johnson; 12 great grandchildren; siblings Joan (John) Havel, Pauline Anderson, Lee (Bunny) Johnston; brother-in-law Bill Biggins as well as a host of relatives and friends.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the Isanti County Sheriff’s Department along with Safety and Rescue and the staff at the Cambridge Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 11 AM at Springvale Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Larson officiating.  Visitation and reviewal one hour prior at the church.  Interment in the Springvale Baptist Cemetery.
