Marcella A. Welk age 77, of Princeton, passed away peacefully holding her husband’s hand on June 13, 2020.

Marcella was born April 28, 1943 to Peter and Katherine Roerick on a farm in Rugby, ND. She attended numerous county schools; she received her GED as an adult. Marcella met James Welk in Selz, ND at a dance. “it was Love at first sight” They were married on June 22, 1963. She lived with Jim in Grand Forks, ND and then later moved to West Fargo, ND and eventually settled in Ham Lake, MN due to Jim’s career.

Marcella and Jim owned Individual Hair and Tanning Salon in Blaine for many years. She also worked at Blaine State Bank/ Core Trust for many years.

They were blessed with two children; Karen (Richard) VanAsch of Otsego, MN and Scott James Welk of Denver, CO. Five grandchildren; Bandy(Vern) Clark,

Brittany (Dan) Widell, Brooke( MacKenzie) Franssen, Travis James Welk and Amanda Welk; 11 great-grandchildren Jadelyn, Mason, Easton, London, Isaiah, Ava, Liam, Maybelle, Memphis, Lanaya, and Lincoln.

Also survived by her siblings Irene (Albert) Boehm,

Mary (Dennis) Grad, Peter Roerick, Ally (Pete) Haluska, Steve (Heidi) Roerick, Amy Herbranson, Eva (Butch) Wentz, Julie (Pete) Schmidt, Nickolaus Roerick and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her sisters Helen Lincoln, Pauline Goldade.

Marcella had many talents including sewing, crocheting and embroidery. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren attending their many sporting events.
