Lois Doebbeling age 88 of Cambridge, MN., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at GracePointe Crossing on November 18, 2023.
Lois was born on October 12, 1935 to Marcus and Alvina Nelson in Albert Lea, MN. She attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School, class of 1953. Lois worked for a short time at Wilson’s Meat Packing plant in Albert Lea, MN before getting married to Lyle Doebbeling on October 1, 1955.
Lois and Lyle made their first home in Twin Lakes, MN moving to Bloomington and finally moving their growing family to a farm in Braham, MN, where they raised their five children. She was always there for her children and enjoyed being a homemaker.
Lois and Lyle were the owners of the Dalbo Discount store for 18 ½ years, from 1974 until 1993. While working in Dalbo, Lois and Lyle volunteered with the ambulance crew for the Dalbo Fire Department.
In her spare time she enjoyed playing her accordion and often played the organ for church services. Lois loved music and playing hymns for fun and to share with others. She enjoyed a large variety of crafts, sewing, needlework of all types, and teaching others her passion. Her last project was a scarf that she made, which she and Lyle will be wrapped in at their final resting place.
Lois loved to bake and share her treats. Family events always had her pies, raisin bars and so much more. She always had a treat and coffee to share; when someone dropped by. We kids often went home with a treat for the road. Lois also loved to play cards. There is hardly a visit without a hand of Phase 10, which the grandchildren were great to play with her. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing cards or dominoes with a number of friends, including many at GracePointe.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Lyle, parents, son David, sister Betty Bjornson and brother James Nelson; sister-in-law Ruth Allen and brothers-in-law Maurice and Ralph Doebbeling.
