Linda Marie Swanson of Cambridge, age 59, passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 17, 2026 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN.
She was born on September 19, 1966 in Golden Valley, Minnesota to Ronald and Marie (Maki) Shereck. Her early years were spent in Blaine, Minnesota and Knoxville, Tennessee where her dad transferred for his job. In 1972 her family moved to Cambridge, MN where she attended school and graduated in 1984. During high school she sang in the Chamber Choir, played fast pitch softball, volleyball and was even student director of several musicals. After high school, she spent one year at Golden Valley Lutheran College and played softball for the Royals and then earned an Associate degree in Business Management from Anoka Ramsey.
She met Bradley Swanson in August of 1985 and knew he was the one! They were united in marriage at the Cambridge United Methodist church in 1988. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Tyler and Derek. She very much enjoyed going to watch their school baseball, football and wrestling events and made many lasting friendships with other parents.
Over the years, Linda was involved in golf league at the Purple Hawk, where she golfed league for over 30 years. She enjoyed her friends at the Hawk and loved going on girls’ golf trips with the Tagalong girls. She also was a 40-year member of the Cambridge Curling Club where she curled in women’s and couples’ leagues. She loved taking an active role in the betterment of the club and enjoyed working on various fundraising activities over the years.
Linda worked for USDA, Rural Development for over 32 years. She started as a County Office Clerk in 1989 and completed her career as a Multifamily Housing Loan Specialist. It was rewarding work where she could make a difference in people’s lives. She retired in January, 2023.
Linda and Brad were married for 38 wonderful years, during which time God blessed them with many incredible adventures in the US and other countries. So many great memories were made with each other and family and friends. Linda’s family, particularly her six grandchildren, meant the world to her. They were the light of her life!
During her initial diagnosis of stage III ovarian cancer and subsequent recurrences, Linda and family were so grateful for the friends and family that supported them during those difficult times.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Marie Shereck and mother and father in-law, LaDonna and James Swanson.
Linda is survived by her husband, Bradley; son Tyler; son Derek (Gloria); and six grandchildren: Gavin, Tucker, Odessa, Theodore, Victor and McCoy; her sister Doreen (John) Polzin; brother Mark (Vicki) Shereck; brother Kevin (Jane) Shereck; brother Tim (Sarah) Shereck; sister-in-law Randa (Todd) Urness; brother-in-law Michael Swanson; along with eight nieces and their families.
Memorial Service 11AM, Friday, March 6, 2026 at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Visitation 6-8PM Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
