Leon F. Carson

Leon Frederick Carson was born on December 1, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and passed away in his sleep on June 23, 2026, in Cambridge, Minnesota.

Leon lived a life marked by warmth, generosity, and an appreciation for the people and places that surrounded him. He was a man who approached life with an adventurous spirit and offered wisdom in a steady and thoughtful way. Those who knew him will remember his quick wit and optimistic nature.

He was raised in Minnesota and carried a lifelong connection to the state he called home. Education was important to Leon, and he attended the University of Minnesota. Leon believed in living with purpose, and that belief showed in the way he approached both his work and his relationships.

Leon’s professional life began while still in college, working nights in the mail room at Minneapolis AAA. His travel career evolved, and he became Director of Group Travel, a role that suited his outgoing nature and love of discovery. He enjoyed helping others experience new places and create lasting memories, and he had a natural ability to make each journey engaging and memorable. His sense of humor and his gift for conversation made him especially well- suited to a career that brought him into contact with so many people. He appreciated the details of each trip and the joy that came from shared adventure.

Faith was an important part of Leon’s life, and he was a Christian.  He was an active member of Cambridge Lutheran Church, and he volunteered on numerous committees.

Leon had many interests that brought him joy, including fishing and boating on Spectacle Lake. He enjoyed time on the water and the peace that came with being outdoors. These activities gave him opportunities to relax, reflect, and enjoy the beauty of creation. Whether he was casting a line or spending time in the pontoon, he found contentment in the moments that allowed him to slow down and appreciate life. His adventurous nature was evident in the way he embraced these pastimes, and the stories that no doubt came from them.

Family was central to Leon’s life, and he is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Amy Carson of Wahpeton, North Dakota; son, Craig Carson and his wife Tiffany of Burnsville; three granddaughters, Emily, Isabella, and Adalynn; sister, Nancy Hamilton and her husband Greg of Burnsville; nephews Gregory and Shad; brother-in-law Tom Potts, wife Becky, nephews Brian and Jason; cousins Colleen and Cassie; other relatives and friends.  He cherished his loved ones and took great pride in the family he helped build.

Though Leon has departed this life, the example he set and the love he shared will remain with his family and friends for years to come.

Memorial Service 11AM Friday, July 24, 2026 at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
