Lando I. Kutzke

 Lando Ivan Kutzke, 96, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2021 at Stoney River Senior Living in Ramsey, MN.

Lando was born on January 26,1925 in Mayer, Carver County MN to Frank and Annie (Zibell) Kutzke.  His first job was working at a grocery store in Mayer. He married Adella Johnson on August 12, 1946. She died in a tragic road accident. Lando and Adella had a daughter, Carol.

Lando met Lucille Young while delivering milk to the school in Waconia MN. They were married on July 4,1951 in Holdingford MN.  They moved to Cambridge, MN in 1952 and owned the Red Owl grocery store. In 1960, he became an insurance agent for Prudential Life Insurance company and later was a grocer at Erickson’s More-4 grocery store in Cambridge for 20 years, retiring in 1990. 

In 1975, they moved to their home just outside of Cambridge where they planted and grew beautiful gardens, including many varieties of hostas.  In 2006, they moved to the Real Life retirement community in St. Cloud, and in 2015, to Stoney River Senior Living in Ramsey MN.  At age 96, Lando still helped with the garden, growing tomatoes, peppers, and herbs.  Lando and Lucille were married for over 66 years and had four children, Barbara, Connie, Daniel, and Michael.

Lando enjoyed gardening, woodworking, playing cards and helping others. He was friendly, joyful, and always was ready to lend a helping hand. He joined the Knights of Columbus at the age of 21, was a Master Gardener through Minnesota Extension Agency and was a charter member of the Cambridge Lions Club.  He enjoyed camping and visits with his friends from the Good Sam Club, Rum River Ramblers and Holiday Travelers camping groups. Lando and Lucille went south for 12 winters with their motor home, visiting Florida, Texas, and Arizona.  Lando was also an avid Twins and Vikings fan.  His German heritage was important to him.

He was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Cambridge and was on the planning committee for the new church, built in 1966.  Lando is survived by his children Carol (Larry) Gregersen of Cortez, CO, Connie (Steve) Dilts of Billings, MT, Daniel (Kim) of Rochester, MN and Michael (Jennifer) of Andover, MN, 13 grandchildren and 10 great

grandchildren.  Lando was preceded in death by his parents, wives Adella and Lucille, brothers Gilbert and Melvin Kutzke, daughter Barbara Feterl. He and his family are grateful for all of his caregivers at Stoney River Senior Living.

The family will hold a private Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment will be in Christ the King Cemetery, Cambridge, MN.
