LaVerne H. (Leaf) Golden

LaVerne H. Golden, 82, of Grandy, MN passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at her son's home in Stanchfield.

She was born February 11, 1944 in Braham, Minnesota to John and Hulda (Smith) Leaf.  LaVerne grew up in the Grandy area where she attended country school and later Cambridge High School.

Vernie met Dennis Golden and they were married April 15, 1967 in South Dakota.  They made their home in Blaine and raised two sons.  In 1983 they moved to Grandy and have lived there ever since. 

She worked at MinCo Products in Fridley, retiring from there after 45 years.  She enjoyed spending time with Dennis at the cabin in Alexandria.  Vernie enjoyed fishing, camping, baking, tending to her flower gardens, hunting at Camp Ripley, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their sporting events.  She and Dennis enjoyed traveling, making three summer trips to Alaska and two trips to Arizona to visit family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty Engberg, brothers Dennis and Donald Leaf.

Vernie is survived by her husband Dennis “Butch”, sons Todd (Teresa) Golden of Pine River, Terry (Becky) Golden of Stanchfield, three grandchildren Jessica (Cody) Binger of Cambridge, Martina Golden (Chase Hicks) of Roseville, Triton Golden, four great grandchildren Branson, Ainsley, Lainey and Baylor, godson Cory Leaf, two brothers Darrell Leaf, Duane (Dawn) Leaf, sisters Mickey Sutherland, DeeDee (Michael) Lund, many other relatives and friends. 

Vernie's gentle spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

Celebration of Life Gathering 5-7PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home. Interment at a later date in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery at Rush Point.
