Karl Robert Morris, 71, of Cambridge passed away peacefully on August 29th, 2024 in his home surrounded by his family.
Karl was born in Trenton, New Jersey to Robert and Lou Ellen Morris. When Karl was 3, they moved to El Paso, Texas where he would spend his childhood. He married Susan Boettcher on August 16th, 1986 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Weber, Minnesota. He graduated from UTEP with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and also graduated from St Thomas University with a Masters of Computer Science. He worked as a computer programmer for over 46 years for several banking institutions. Karl had a firm belief in God, and loved to help others. Throughout his life, he shared God’s love and spent his time evangelizing and helping those in need. He was a member of Lakeside Christian Church.
Karl loved classic music, classic cars, classic cinema, and his family. When he would work on cars, it was not uncommon to hear chirping brass from the big band era, or the unmistakable syncopated bass lines from motown. In the evenings after a long day of work, he would relax watching classic movies, such as Bridge Over The River Kwai, North By Northwest, and We're No Angels. ‘And just one more thing…’, an episode or two of Columbo.
Karl was preceded by death by his parents Robert and Lou Ellen Morris.
Karl is survived by his wife Susan, children Erica Morris of San Antonio, TX, Andrew (Amanda) Morris of New Hope, MN, Jonathan Morris of Boulder, CO, Sophie Morris of Okinawa, Japan, Grace Morris of Mobile, AL, sister Gail (John) Standal of Toms River, NJ, brother Glenn (Karen) Morris of Amarillo, TX, parents in-law Larry and Mimi Boettcher of Cambridge, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The Morris family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Allina Health Hospice team, and the Cambridge Allina Oncology team. Sandy, Deb, Mary, and many others gave such great care and support for the family in such a difficult time. Special thanks go to Steve & Laura Newton, Tim Newton, Jeff & Kathy Boyum, and the entire Lakeside family for your visits, support, and prayers.
Funeral Services 1PM, Friday, September 6, 2024 at Joy Lutheran Church in Cambridge. Visitation begins at 11AM at the church. Interment in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
