Joseph Frank Semler, 89, of Isle, MN formerly of Bradford, MN passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Walker Methodist Levande in Cambridge.
He was born January 16, 1935 in Salem, Ohio to Henry and Celia (Naylor) Semler. The family moved to Bradford, MN when Joe was young, he attended Bradford Country School and went on to graduate from Cambridge High School in 1953. Joe enlisted in the National Guard while in high school and served until May 1955. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves until March 1961.
In August 1953, he was united in marriage to Carol Quist and they made their home in Bradford raising their three children. Joe worked various jobs over the years. He owned Bob’s Independent Oil in Bradford as well as his own framing company, building residential homes.
He and Carol lived several years on Lake Mille Lacs. After Carol passed away, Joe moved to Little Pine Key, Florida. More recently he returned to Minnesota and purchased a farm near Isle.
Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf. He was a member of the American Legion and was very patriotic and proud of his country and service.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carol, brothers Fred, Lawrence and George Semler, and sister Mary Burton.
Joe is survived by his children Joe (Becky) Semler Jr. of Isanti, Pete (Patty) Semler of Oak Grove, Peggy (Kurt) Smith of Alaska, nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM, Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Cross Pointe Church, 34047 Blackfoot St NW, Cambridge, MN. Private Interment in Nicholas Cemetery in Spencer Brook.
