John Andrew Lundin, passed away unexpectedly on May 26, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on January 25, 1946, in the small town of Dalbo, Minnesota, John's journey in life was marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a passion for the simple joys of life.
John's early years were spent in the rural landscapes of Minnesota, where he attended the local country school in Dalbo and later graduated from Cambridge High School in 1965. His sense of duty called him to serve in the Air Force, where he was stationed in Idaho, Texas and Thailand during the Vietnam War.
On September 20, 1969, John married Teri Domogalla at Christ the King Catholic Church. The young couple first settled in Brooklyn Park, by 1973 they built a home in Cambridge and raised two children, Wade and Heather.
A union carpenter for 40 years, John worked for Lovering and Ram West. His work was not just a job but a craft that he honed with care and precision, leaving a legacy of skill and integrity.
John's interests were as varied as they were heartwarming. A member of the Drift Dusters snowmobile club, he found joy in the thrill of the ride and the companionship of fellow snowmobiling enthusiasts. Hunting was not just a pastime but a way to connect with nature and to spend time with his son. His love for restoring Farmall tractors was a testament to his patience and attention to detail, and his help on the Engquist farm reflected his deep-rooted sense of community.
Visits to Teri's family in California and a cruise were cherished memories, as was the time spent with his brothers, whom he held in close regard.
His grandchildren, Leandra, Gretchen, and Kayla, will remember him as a grandfather who was always there with a story, a smile, or a helping hand.
Though he was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Mable Lundin; brother, Walter Lundin; niece, Julia Borja; and sister-in-law, Sharon Lundin, John's legacy lives on through his loving wife, Teri; son, Wade (Angie) Lundin; daughter, Heather (Andrew) Thunstrom; his adored grandchildren, Leandra Lundin, Kayla Thunstrom and Gretchen Lundin; sister, Ann (Jim) Langeberg; brother, David (Bonnie) Lundin, other relatives and friends.
John's passing in Cambridge, the town he called home for so many years, marks the end of an era for those who knew and loved him. Yet, the memories he created, and the impact he had on the lives he touched will endure. John Andrew Lundin's life is story is one of a life well-lived, characterized by kindness, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. As we say farewell, we take solace in the knowledge that his was a life that truly made a difference.
A memorial service will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cambridge, on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Cambridge American Legion.
