John Leon Peterson was born in Princeton, Minnesota on November 4th, 1932. The second of four children to Edwin and Geraldine (Annis) Peterson. He went home to be with the Lord just a week shy of 91 years old. John grew up in Day, MN. He enjoyed living in the country where he could roam freely with his dogs trapping, hunting and fishing at Lewis Lake. He attended Ogilvie Highschool. From there in 1952 he joined the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War era as an Airplane Instrument Technician. After being honorably discharged he met and married the love of his life Shirley Anderson. They were married on Oct 13th, 1956, at Ogilvie Methodist church on a beautiful fall day. Together with their 4 children they resided in East Bethel for 56 years. He retired after working many years for Minnegasco. He had a love for music, sweets and a good conversation. He enjoyed fishing, camping, trips to the North Shore, Florida to see the ocean, Glacier Park in Canada and his trip to Alaska was his favorite. He enjoyed taking drives through Carlos Avery Game Farm. He loved the outdoors and took great interest observing all wildlife and nature. He especially loved spending time with his grand-children and great grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife Shirley Peterson, their four children Lori (Fred) Pagenkopf, Leon (Ellen) Peterson, Susan (Darrell) Anderson and Kathleen Jesse. Ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Geraldine Peterson. Eileen Peterson (Sister), Geraldine Haus (Sister) and Paul Peterson (Brother).
We would like to say a special thank you and God bless all who provided such care and comfort to John the last few months he was here with us.
