Joanna L. Marana

Joanna Lyn Marana, 37, of Princeton passed away suddenly on Friday, May 28, 2021 in
Coon Rapids.
Joanna was born in Beckley, WV to Keith Dobbe and Cynthia (Sims) Butrym on February
4, 1984. She graduated high school from Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, WI.
During her high school years, she was very active in her youth group and loved being a part of its
drama ministry.
Affectionately known as “Jo” by family and friends, she held a passion for health and
could effortlessly create delicious, yet magically frugal, healthy meals. Her enthusiasm for
helping others with their health goals led her to become a certified Health Coach. Though Jo’s
coaching practice was in its infancy, her vast health knowledge and joyous, encouraging
presence positively impacted so many.
More than anything, Jo loved being a mother to Adelea. Her happy place was watching
Addy play softball or doing anything she loved—even giving her teenage attitude. When Jo
married Alonzo in July of 2020, her joy beamed as the three of them joined a family.
Jo loved having a good time with family and friends. She enjoyed getting glammed up
and ready, but also relaxing at home with comfy slippers on. Shopping and finding amazing
deals was like a hobby for Jo. If a deal existed, somehow Jo could find it, which seemed like a
superpower to those who witnessed her in action.
Throughout her years with medical issues, Jo’s faith in a loving, present God remained.
Her bright-as-sunshine smile, positive attitude, and silly humor brought laughter and joy to
everyone she encountered. Often doctors and nurses were astounded at how she kept going—she
was our bright, shining miracle who will forever be missed.
Jo is survived by her husband Alonzo Marana; daughter Adelea Joy Polaski, mother
Cynthia (Christopher) Butrym; father Keith (Merry) Dobbe; siblings Jael (Christopher) Siekert,
Suzanne (Daniel) VanderWeyst, Angela (Sean Stuewe) Syvrud, Jacob (Kasandra) Dobbe; and
many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by grandparents; daughter Adelea Bea; son Moses James; uncle
Thomas Sims Jr.; and cousin Sarah Brucker.

Funeral Services will be held at 2PM, Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
