JoAnn M. (Lindgren) Nyholm

JoAnn Marie Decker Nyholm died unexpectedly on February 15, 2025 at the age of 82.  She was born to Cerold and Myrtle Lindgren of NE Cambridge on March 28, 1942, the third of eight children.  She attended Stake, a country school for grades 1 through 6, and then Cambridge Junior and Senior High School, graduating in 1960.

Following graduation, she entered Lutheran Deaconess Hospital's school of nursing program in Minneapolis.  She then worked there as well until moving to California and then Oklahoma before returning to Minneapolis again.  While working she earned an MBA from Metro State University and worked in administration from then on.  Her career took her to Duluth where she met and married David Nyholm.  Together they relocated to wherever JoAnn's employment took them as Dave was already retired.  First to Sioux City, Iowa and then to Worthington, MN. 

Upon her retirement they moved to Willow River, MN.  They lived there until their home was destroyed by flooding and they relocated one more time to Stacy, MN where she was currently residing.

JoAnn enjoyed traveling and being active.  She made friends everywhere she went and was very diligent at maintaining those friendships.  A major priority was always family and friends.  She loved to host gatherings and assigned herself as the family's social planner.  She also planned and hosted get-togethers for her many friends.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband David, her parents, sister: Carole Nordeen, brothers: Roger and Peter Lindgren, sisters-in-law: Sharon Lindgren and Anita Lindgren, brothers-in-law: James Nordeen and Michael Johnson.

She is survived by siblings Gerald Lindgren, Nancy (Walter) Bennett, Ronald (Joan) Lindgren and Patricia Johnson.  Sister-in-law Mary Lindgren, Step daughters Lisa and Anne, Jodi, Jill, Jackie and Jennifer as well as many nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed by the many lives that she impacted with her kind and loving spirit.

Memorials are preferred to the family of JoAnn Nyholm.

Memorial Service 11AM, Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Cambridge Lutheran Church.  Visitation one hour prior to the service.  Niche placement at a later date in Sunrise Memorial Park in Hermantown.
