Jessica Lee Smiley

            Jessica Lee. Smiley, 37, of Isanti passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Villas of New Brighton.

            Jessica was the very definition of a "Mama Bear". She protected her children, Josaphine Jones (15), and June Jones (7), with an unmatched intensity. She proved instrumental in shaping them into the beautiful, intelligent, and strong young ladies they are today. The love between Joe Jones (39) and Jessica was one for the ages, a unification most couples strive for as they were best friends and soul mates. They shared many common interests such as hockey, softball, traveling, and dogs... many dogs! Perhaps, this is why their girls have both decided to pursue hockey careers and vow never to own cats! Jessica was always their biggest fan and toughest critic and it shows!

            It’s nearly impossible to define Jessica in one word, although, Selfless comes to mind. She was so excited to get a truck so they would be able to help stranded winter drivers they might come across. She secretly hired a plow service to help her best friend’s parents who were having a tough time shoveling one year. These are only a couple examples of her generosity, which was endless.

            Family was very important to Jessica, regardless of relation. She fell in love with Taylor Boots, (22) and informally “adopted” her as a daughter. Jessica also shared her love for family with her “Tribe of Women”. She wrote the book on fierce friendship. She was the type of woman who held nothing back and was never afraid to walk through fire for her friends. This may be why she held onto so many friendships that withstood the test of time.

            Jessica was preceded in death by her father, Tony Smiley; step-father, Scott Koester; grandfather, David Stake; grandmothers: Judy Stake, Helen Smiley, and Mary Koester; "Adoptive" mother, Donna Stuhr; and her dog Weasel. Jessica also leaves behind her mother, Veronica Stake; nephews: Nathan, Hunter, and Jayden Smiley; and Dogs: Marilyn, May and Johnny.

            Jessica's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, Visitation begins at 1PM, Service at 1:30PM, Celebration and Food at 2:30PM at the Stanford Town Hall, 5050 261st Avenue NW, Isanti, MN.
