James R. Clough, 86, of Cambridge, MN, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at his home.
He was born September 6, 1939, in Raymond, Minnesota, to Ransom and Bernice (Thompson) Clough. Jim grew up in Raymond, graduating from Raymond High School in 1957. He was active in sports, participating in football, basketball, and baseball. Following high school, he worked with his father for a few years.
On August 8, 1964, Jim married Karen Kramer at First Baptist Church in George, Iowa, beginning a partnership filled with love, adventure, and unwavering support. Together, they welcomed their children—Maureen, William, and Karina—as they built their lives across several Minnesota towns. Whether it was a new job in banking, a move to support his growing family, or a transition into finance at an auto dealership, Jim approached each change with optimism and humor.
Jim’s warmth and generosity touched everyone he met. One favorite memory is his support of his kids’ and grandkids at all the sporting events, often leading the loudest cheers from the stands and sharing words of encouragement with other parents.
An active member of North Isanti Baptist Church, Jim devoted countless hours to serving his faith community in many roles. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether organizing church events or listening with empathy to someone in need. Jim and Karen spent many summers as campground hosts and working the sugar beets in North Dakota, where Jim’s easygoing nature and ready smile made everyone feel at home. His legacy is one of compassion, humor, and a spirit that brought people together—he leaves behind a lasting example of selfless love and community commitment.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his son Bill, and his daughter-in-law Melissa. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; daughters, Maureen (Thomas) Kennedy and Karina O’Mara; grandchildren, Joseph Clough, Allison Clough, Mick O’Mara, Kaylie O’Mara, and Spencer (Sabina) Salian-Bauer; sisters, Shirley Eddy and Carol Dykema; and many other relatives and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Memorial Service 11AM., Monday, September 29, 2025 at North Isanti Baptist Church. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment in the church cemetery.
