Jacqueline Lee Torell, 60, of Cambridge passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020 following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born November 7, 1959 in St. Paul, Minnesota to James and Beverly (Howell) Shelby. Jackie grew up in South Minneapolis where she graduated from South High School in 1977. She worked various jobs including the Sears Store on Lake Street.
On August 1, 1986 she was united in marriage to Greg Torell at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in South Minneapolis. They lived for a time in South Minneapolis. In 1990 they moved to Coon Rapids, and when their children were older, they moved west of Cambridge in 1996 so the kids could attend school in Cambridge.
She worked for many years in the insurance industry, working for Mutual of Omaha, John Alden/Assurant, Meritain Life/Aetna. Because of health reasons, Jackie was forced to quit her job.
Jackie enjoyed the outdoors, spending time in her flower and fairy gardens, she enjoyed quiet evenings reading and doing puzzles. She was always willing to try different things, she did trap shooting, bowled, played softball and golf. She loved going to thrift stores, garage sales and antiquing. Jackie had fun on her trips to Florida with her girlfriends and to NASCAR races.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Craig and Rick Shelby, brother-in-law Corey Torell and mother-in-law Ramona Torell. Jackie is survived by her husband Greg, children Cory Torell of Dalbo, Nikki Torell (Justin Reichel) of Isanti, Zach Torell of Thief River Falls, Frank (Nicole) Collins of Ramsey, three grandchildren Ellie Reichel, Wyatt Torell, and Bennett Reichel, brother Jimmy (Vicky) Shelby of South Minneapolis, sister JoAnn Shelby of Cambridge, father-in-law Paul Torell of Cambridge, as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2-8PM, Friday, May 8, 2020 at the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home. There will be a limit of groups of 10 people at a time with social distancing.
