Hunter Eric Melander, 21, of Cambridge, died tragically on Sunday, January 1, 2023 in rural Isanti.
Beloved cherished son to Chad and Karen (Hechsel) Melander. He was born on October 25, 2001 in Cambridge. He was their pride and joy.
At only 21 years of age, Hunter had been employed at HOBS Excavating as a heavy equipment operator for two years and was a member of the 49ers Union.
Hunter graduated from Cambridge-Isanti High School in 2020. In his school years, Hunter participated in both High School Basketball and traveling basketball. He had a special bond with his senior basketball team family. Together, they successfully made a record setting 2020 CIHS Bluejackets team. Coach McDonald stated, “Hunter always seemed to make key game-winning plays.”
In his short life, Hunter enjoyed many hunting adventures. Many fond memories were made with his family and many, many friends. Snowmobiling was another great passion of his.
Camo, his dog, was lovingly spoiled by Hunter (even though mom didn’t want him to) that is just who he was.
Hunter was an incredible young man and was loved by many. He will always be remembered for his kind, loving, funny personality.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Howard Hechsel and Roger Melander.
Hunter will be missed everyday by his parents Chad and Karen Melander of Cambridge; his sister Ashley Melander (fiancé James Anderson) of Mauston, WI; grandmothers Althea Hechsel of Isanti, Georgia Melander and husband Jerry Loscheider of North Branch; aunts and uncles, Dale (Rhonda) Hechsel, Jean (Scott) Nelson, Tim (Imelda) Melander, Lee (Julie) Melander, many cousins, friends and Camo.
