Harold Tuset Obituary

Harold Stanley Tuset passed away at home in hospice care on July 24, 2024.  He was born to Evelyn and John Tuset on September 6, 1937 in Minneapolis.

He graduated from Roosevelt High School and continued his education at the University of MN where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree.  He did advanced study in Maryland.  Harold was very active in sports in high school and excelled as a distance runner.  He joined the Marine Corps and trained at Quantico in Virginia.  He completed his time with MACS-16 at NAS Minneapolis, Semper Fi.  He married Constance Groettum in 1957 and they raised three sons together.  Connie passed away in 1995 in New York.

His career was centered in the aerospace and avionics industry.  He had fond memories of missile launch work at Vandenberg Air Force and his part in the numerous aircraft programs while living in CA.  he had the opportunity to travel all of the US and much of the world.  Through various assignments and job changes he moved from Minnesota to California to Maryland to New York to Florida and then retired back to Minnesota.

Harold married Anne Bye in 1998.  They lived in Florida before moving to Cambridge in late 1999.  Wanting to stay busy in retirement he worked part time as a courier for Peoples State Bank.  He enjoyed it since it was so different from anything he had done.  He became very active at Cambridge Lutheran Church and worked as the Director of Ministry.  He also served on the Cambridge Lutheran Church Council and on several pastoral call committees.  Harold chaired the annual Lutefisk dinner for many years.  He was proud they served 1000 meals in his last year.  Harold loved to sing and was active in the Sanctuary Choir and later in the community Prime Time Singers.  He considered the members of his weekly Bible study among his best friends.

Harold cheered on the Vikings from whatever state he lived.  He also enjoyed the MN Twins.  He coached his sons (Rick, Mike and Dan) when they played baseball and football.  Harold also enjoyed cooking and came up with many delicious meals.  Soup was a specialty.  He often enjoyed a glass of good red wine.  Anne teased him that he was a “wine snob”.  He rarely missed reading the daily newspaper and kept track of local and national events.  He served as an election judge for several years.  He especially enjoyed reading mysteries.  Harold had many skills including designing and building out the lower level of his Cambridge home and all the other projects Anne requested.  Harold loved dogs and cats and had many over the years.  His current dog, Bella, will certainly miss him.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother John, sister Emily Snyder, first wife Connie and son Rick.

Survived by his wife Anne, sons Michael and Dan (Lisa) Tuset, grandson Nathan, step daughter Kristi (John) Gamer, granddaughters Meredith, Audrey and Sarah Gamer, many nieces and nephews.

Memorials preferred to Cambridge Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
