Franklin "Frank" Dutcher Obituary

Franklin D. "Frank" Dutcher, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital. Born on November 4, 1936 in Athens Township, MN, Frank lived a full and vibrant life that touched many.

Frank's journey began in the rural landscapes of Minnesota, where he attended Athens Country School. At the tender age of 13, he demonstrated his strong work ethic by starting work at Larson Auto Body in Cambridge. There, he not only honed his skills but also developed a lifelong passion for working on cars, a hobby he enjoyed with Harry Larson.

Frank's industrious spirit led him to become one of the first individuals to clean the windows of the IDS Tower in Minneapolis. This job was a testament to his fearless nature and his willingness to tackle any challenge that came his way. Eventually, Frank channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into self-employment, founding Frank's Remodeling, a home remodeling business that showcased his craftsmanship and attention to detail.

On July 11, 1959, Frank married the love of his life, Joan, in Wayzata, MN. The couple settled in Minneapolis, and over the years, they created homes in various places including Long Lake west of Isanti, and Athens, before ultimately returning to rural Isanti County. Together, they raised a family that Frank was exceptionally proud of: sons Brad (Sue) of Hinckley, MN, Barry of Pine City, MN, and son-in-law Tim Wuestenhagen of North Branch, MN. Frank's legacy also includes 12 cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his memory with love.

Frank's siblings held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his sister Belle (Jim) Phillipi of Harris, MN and brothers Bill (Kay) Dutcher of Washington and Steve (Lynn) Dutcher of Oregon. Frank was preceded in death by his daughter Joy Wuestenhagen, granddaughter Kimberly Dutcher and siblings Fred Dutcher Jr., Vera Stabblefield, Julie Stevenson, Matthew Dutcher, Celie Hurst, Jack Dutcher and Clint Dutcher.

Frank's interests were as varied as his skills. He was an avid woodworker, creating beautiful pieces that were as functional as they were artistic. His love for country music was well-known, and it provided the soundtrack for many of his days. Frank and Joan shared a passion for travel, exploring the U.S. in their motorhome, creating countless memories along the way.

Those who knew Frank would describe him as handy, kind, and selfless. He was the person you could count on to lend a helping hand, whether it was fixing a leaky faucet or offering a listening ear. His kindness extended beyond his immediate circle, touching the lives of neighbors, friends, and even strangers.

Frank's life was a testament to the power of hard work, the importance of family, and the joy of pursuing one's passions. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, but his legacy will live on through the lives he influenced and the love he shared.
