Douglas Wentworth Obituary

Douglas Albert Wentworth, 75, of Stilwell, Kansas passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at home.

Doug was born September 25, 1948, in the city of Braham, Minnesota to Glenn and Margaret (Treichel) Wentworth. He grew up in Bradford and went to a country school. In the 8th grade he started school at Cambridge High School where he played football and baseball and was captain of his baseball team. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1966 and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, completing an internship as a mechanical engineer at Pillsbury.

On August 16, 1969, he was united in marriage to Carol Yvonne Kjos at the Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduation, he worked as an engineer at T. E. Ibberson. After this, he started his own company and served as president of Steelcon, Inc, which engineered and constructed feedmills and elevators, in Burnsville, Minnesota, for just under a decade. He moved to Kansas in 1989, working for Wenger International, which later merged with Wenger Manufacturing in Sabetha, Kansas for approximately 13 years. Just prior to retirement, he opened his own company, Pyramid Processing Equipment. While working with Wenger Manufacturing, he traveled to 52 different countries, creating relationships with different communities and cultures, selling, and then returning to help set up manufacturing equipment.

He enjoyed sharing his experiences with anyone that would lend an ear. He enjoyed sports, volunteered as baseball coach for his youngest son’s team, and would never miss watching the
Kansas City Chiefs, Royals and Kansas Jayhawks. He was very proud of and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow into adulthood. He was baptized at Cambridge Lutheran Church, Cambridge, MN and a member at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Overland Park, KS.

He was preceded in death by his father Glenn Wentworth, brother Dean Wentworth, and son Joel Wentworth. Doug is survived by his wife Carol Wentworth of Stilwell, KS, mother Margaret Wentworth of Cambridge, MN, brother David Wentworth of Cambridge, MN, his children Joy (Randy) Thompson of Eagan, MN, Dr. Nicole Hartung of Delano, MN, Nicholas Wentworth of Stilwell, KS, Jackie (James) Downing of Spring Hill, KS, his four grandchildren Weston, Max, and Cooper Hartung and Miranda Thompson, and many cousins.
