Dorothy Kay Gordon, age 74, of Cambridge, MN passed away on January 5th, 2026.
Dorothy (Dot) was born on August 26, 1951 in Greenville, Mississippi. She was sweet, soft-spoken, and full of Southern charm. Her heart was full of love for her family and close friends. She had a silly, playful side that brought smiles to the people around her. Through the years, many enjoyed a slice of her famous pecan pie or a bowl of her gumbo. Dot enjoyed playing cribbage and spending time on the golf course, and was known for her competitive nature. She loved sending family and friends handwritten cards with stickers, cute stamps, and personal touches, each one thoughtfully underlined. In August, she proudly celebrated 30 years of sobriety, a milestone deeply meaningful to her family, and one she always said was possible only through Jesus and was a testament to her strength and perseverance. Her greatest joy was being “Memaw” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Tammie (Jason) and Randy (Liz); grandchildren, Kelsie (Tim), John (Rachel), Bailey (Frank), Riley, and Aaliyah; great-grandchildren, Marley, Mindy, Dean, Liam, and Benjamin, with a great-granddaughter on the way. She is also survived by her older brothers, Jackie and Bill (Elsie); nieces Leslie and Melissa; nephews Scott and Mike; beloved godchildren Heather and Ryan, and their parents and lifelong friends, Ken and Dee Dee. She will be fondly remembered by Gail and many friends from Big Round Lake, the extended Paine family, a few very special friends at Ashland Place, and many others.
She was preceded in death by her father Jack, her mother Lucille, her daughter Heather, her sister-in-law Gladys, and Jim, her soulmate and forever sweetie.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2026, at which time she will be laid to rest at Strike Cemetery in Isanti, MN.
“Sleep with the Angels!” and “Don’t forget to wave!”
