Don Everett Hansen passed away unexpectedly Saturday August 9th 2025 at Ecumen, a transitional care unit in North Branch, MN. Jesus said it was time to bring Don home and around 8:30pm he took his last breath. Don was 84 years old.
Don was born at the Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, MN to Verl and Lucille Hansen on October 14th 1940. He was raised on the family farm in New Richland, MN with his sister Sharon and brother Terry. He was involved in football and band in high school, and graduated in 1958. He went on to study at the University of MN and Dunwoody College in Minneapolis, MN where he received a degree and became a licensed Land Surveyor. He married the love of his life, Sandra (Sandy) Christensen on January 7th, 1961. They lived in Wyoming, MN where he worked for Don Hult Surveying and raised their two children, Mark and Lisa. Don was active in hockey, where he was a coach for Mark’s hockey team. In 1975, they moved to Cambridge, MN and had two more children, Kristin and Ryanwhere he started his own surveying business and also became the Isanti County Surveyor.
Don had his business in his home so he was able to spend more time with his family. He was a very hard worker and wanted to do the best job for his clients as possible and created many relationships over the 50 years. Both of his son’s worked with him, as well as his grandson Mitchell. He also made time for his family and enjoyed many activities with them to include hunting, archery, baseball, ice skating, skiing, and golfing.
Don’s heart belonged to the Lord. Don and his family became members of North Isanti Baptist Church where he taught adult Sunday school and was also in the church choir. Sometime later, Don and his family started attending New Hope Community Church and through the years he developed a stronger relationship with the Lord.
Don is preceded in death by his son Mark, sister Sharon Johnson, and parents Verl and Lucille.
Don is survived by his wife Sandy, children Lisa, Kristin(David) Jacobson, Ryan (Tressy) Hansen, his brother Terry (Wendy) Hansen, and daughter-in-law Gerti Hansen. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lindsay (Keith) Koroschetz, Mitchell (Jessica May) Hansen, William Jacobson, Olivia Jacobson, Carter Hansen, step-grandchildren Nicole Annis and Denise (Jason) Korbol, and nieces and nephews.
Don’s family would like to send a special Thank You to the staff at Ecumen North Branch, as well as Dr. Gorse and his team and Dr. Wallace for the wonderful care and support throughout the years.
Don’s Celebration of Life will be held at 11AM, Monday, September 8, 2025 at New Hope Community Church, Cambridge Campus. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment Isanti Union Cemetery.
