Delores Jean “Dee” Becklin, 85, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at United Hospital in St. Paul.
She was born May 20, 1936 in Cambridge, Minnesota to Clarence and Pearl (Peterson) Pearson. Dee grew up in Cambridge, graduating from Cambridge High School in 1954. After high school she worked for a time at the powdered milk plant in Minneapolis to help her future husband Phil get through electrician’s school.
On December 10, 1955 she was united in marriage to Phillip Becklin at First Baptist Church in Cambridge. They spent their entire lives in Cambridge and raised their five children. After Phil earned his journeyman’s electrician license, Dee started nursing school to become an LPN. She worked at Grandview Christian Home for several years as a night supervisor. She went on to attend Anoka Ramsey to earn a degree as a registered nurse. She was employed at Cambridge Memorial Hospital as a night nursing administrator from which she retired in 2011. Phil passed away unexpectedly in April 2013. Dee remained in the family home until recently when she moved into her newly built home in Cambridge.
Dee was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She loved her time with family and rarely missed a sporting event or school event that her children and grandchildren were involved with. Dee and Phil planned many family trips; camping with kids growing up and when they had their own families, renting cabins so they could all be together. She loved hosting family holidays. Dee was a wonderful cook and baker, and always made sure everyone was fed well. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens and caring for her yard.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Phil, daughter Jenny Schlenker, brothers Gerald and Bobby Pearson.
