Dean Eloi Rudquist, 78, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Estates of Rush City.
Dean was born Sept 18, 1942 in Milaca, MN to Joseph and Eva Rudquist. He married Sharon Wirz on November 29, 1969 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Anoka, MN. They had two children, Mike and Wade. Dean and Sharon were foster parents for 10 years.
After graduation from Ogilvie High School, he worked in construction and as a machinist. Eventually he retired as a Warehouse Supervisor at Hoffman Engineering in Anoka, MN. After retiring from Hoffman, he worked part time as a corrections officer for Isanti County Sheriff’s Department.
Dean was a volunteer firefighter for the Dalbo fire department for 17 years and a volunteer for the Isanti County Safety and Rescue Department for 29 years,
He enjoyed fishing, was an avid sports fan (MN Vikings and Twins), reading Louis
L'Amour cowboy novels and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed car racing (NASCAR) and in his younger years ran a car on dirt track speedways in Princeton, MN and Cedar Lake Speedway, WI.
Survived by his wife Sharon (Wirz), sons Michael (Cathy) and Wade (Kris); Grandchildren Jackson and Julia Rudquist; Brother Paul (Linda) Brother in law Dennis Wirz (Nancy) and Ted Erickson. and as well as many other relatives and friends.
Memorials are preferred. Private family service. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2021.
