David Pratt Obituary

David H. Pratt, age 75, of Braham passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 13, 2023, in Cambridge MN. His celebration of life will be held at “The Party Room” at 126 Adams’s St. South, Cambridge, MN, on April 15th from 10 am to 1 pm. A military service is planned for April 17th at 9:45 am at Ft. Snelling National Park. Meet at Assemble Area 2 at 9:30 AM

David Pratt was born in Redwood Falls on December 23, 1947, to parents Tom and Hazel (Morrison) Pratt. He joined the Navy in 1967, fought in Vietnam and was honorably discharged after serving over three years, and was awarded numerous medals. David then moved to Vallejo, CA. in 1970.

David devoted his life to serving others.

David was a jack of all trades. Through the years he worked as a roofer and truckdriver among many other jobs. In 1995, David moved back to Minnesota, and most recently worked at the local farm co-op and feed mill. He was an avid ice cream enthusiast and had a healthy sense of humor that showed up at the most interesting of times. He was the light of any room, and if you knew him, you understood he truly cared about you.

David dearly loved his family and always had a way with all babies and children. He is survived by his children: Lisa (Derek) Peterson, Ian Pratt and Noah (Jaime) Pratt; grandchildren Araka, Eli, Illana, JJ, Shane, Alora, Elijah, Cody, Maleah and Ava; great grandchildren Presley, Cheyanne, Loretta and Enzo; brother Tim (Gayle) Pratt; sisters Debby (Juan) Rangel and Becky Rudenick; Loved ones; Charlene Schnitzius, Sharon Noto, Sue Lawrence, Anna Lenarz, John Lawrence III, Ana Hanson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dave was preceded in death by his sister Sharon Lindgren, brother Tom Pratt, son Shane Pratt, nephew Jeremy Pratt, daughter-in-law Nikki Pratt and brother-in-law Pete Lindgren.

In honor of David, we would like to share this poem:

                 The Final Flight

Don’t grieve for me for now I am free,
I’m following the path that God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I’ve found the peace at the end of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things surely will be missed.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I prayed for your joy to come on tomorrow.
My life was full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart, celebrate with me,
God wanted me now, he set me free.
