David Heise Obituary

David Ralph Heise, 77, a cherished soul and beacon of unwavering faith, completed his earthly journey on April 12, 2024 and entered into eternal rest. Born on April 23, 1946, in Lake City, MN, to the late Arnold Frederick Heise and Yvonne Caroline (Ondler) Heise. His life was a testament to the values he held dear - family, service, and devotion.

Raised on the Heise Family Farm, established in 1917 in Gilford Township, David was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. His upbringing on the farm instilled in him a love for nature and the value of hard work. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1964, David enlisted in the Army Reserve, dedicating 6 years, a testament to his commitment to his country. He attended accounting classes at Rochester Junior College. His career journey began at a local floral shop in Lake City and then a Foundry in Lake City before he moved to Minneapolis in 1968 to work for Soo Line Railroad. David dedicated 38 years of service to the railroad before retiring.

David's heart found its match in Lynn Henkel while attending Hope Lutheran Church, and on October 24, 1970, they united in marriage at Hope Lutheran Church in South Minneapolis and lived in David’s home in South Minneapolis for 8 years. Before starting their family, David and Lynn enjoyed the adventure of camping, creating memories under the stars. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love and companionship, setting up homes in Burnsville, Eagan, Richfield, and Bloomington, before settling in East Bethel in 2017 to embrace the tranquility of country living.

David's love for the simple pleasures in life shone through in his hobbies. An excellent cook, he found solace in the kitchen, whether he was perfecting his apple pie or exploring new recipes from cooking shows that he loved to watch. His love for nature was evident in his beautifully tended flower garden, a reflection of his patience and care.

As a man of devout faith, David's life was characterized by his involvement and volunteer work, in various faith organizations, which included teaching Sunday School or being on various boards. One of his earliest spiritual journey that deeply enriched his life was participating in weekends through CURSILLO. He also dedicated five years at the South Metro food shelf that served the communities of Dakota County and his presence was not only a help to those in need but also a source of joy and friendship to all who worked alongside him. David's creative skills were put to use in every aspect of his life, whether tending to his garden, decorating his home, or simply bringing a smile to the faces of those around him.  David's life was a living sermon, his actions a reflection of the kind, passionate, and faith-filled man he was.

As we bid farewell to this faithful servant of the Lord, we rejoice in the knowledge that he has found peace in the arms of his Creator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Yvonne Heise.

David leaves behind his devoted wife, Lynn; daughters Dianna (Steve), Megan & Alex Krenn of Burnsville, MN, Leisha (Scott) Isabella, Macalester, Kathryn & Wellington Lockrem of Prior Lake, MN; his brother Thomas (Karen) Heise of Lake City; niece Collyn; and nephews Mark and Chris Heise.  He will be missed by many family and friends.
