Obituary

David Roger Hallin, age 72, passed away on September 9, 2020 from complications from Parkinson’s Disease. Dave was born in Milaca, Minnesota on March 12, 1948. He was adopted by Bernard and Irene (Dixon) Hallin and grew up in South Minneapolis.

Dave graduated from Roosevelt High School and then attended Trinity Junior College in British Columbia. He also attended St Paul Bible College, University of Minnesota, and Brown Institute where he started his broadcasting career.

It was at Trinity Junior College where Dave met Dianne Schnell. Dave and Dianne were married on July 12, 1969 in Lacombe, Alberta.  They had three daughters: Michelle, Karin, and Erika whom he adored.

Dave was a talented and creative person. At the age of 7 he learned ventriloquism and used that to teach the gospel in Sunday Schools and Vacation Bible Schools. As an adult he renewed his interest in magic and performed, developed, and marketed illusions to magicians around the world.

Dave spent many summers as an adult at Deeper Life Bible Camp in Blackduck, Minnesota where he worked as both the camp director and camp speaker. He enjoyed all of the time he spent there and made many memories and long-lasting friendships.  He also enjoyed drinking coffee and visiting with friends at local cafes.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his story telling ability, and the love he had for his family.

Dave is survived by his wife Dianne, daughters Michelle (Al) Monson, Karin (Chad) Broeker, and Erika (Marty) Nelson, 7 Grandchildren, Alex, Daniel, Josie, Josh, Megan, Mason and Emma. Sisters Linda (Vern) Stassen, Charlotte Norberg, Judy Berggren, brother Roger (Deb) Berggren, sister-in-law Mary Schnell, brothers-in-law Norman Schnell, Wayne (Brenda) Schnell, Dave Poffenroth, Bill Rosenkranz, and Dave Christiansen, many nieces and nephews and Kimberly Martin who was like a daughter to him.

Special thank you to Allina Hospice, especially Sandy, Lutia, Jill and Mary who brought so much comfort to Dave and his family.
