Dale Verne Benson, age 82, of Dalbo, MN passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, at Sterling Pointe Memory Care, surrounded by his loving family.
Dale was born on August 8, 1943, in Mille Lacs County to Verne and Verna (Larson) Benson. He attended Carmody School through eighth grade and graduated from Princeton High School in 1961. As a young man, Dale worked alongside his father on the family dairy farm, instilling in him a lifelong appreciation for hard work and family.
Dale met the love of his life, Kathy Lindgren, at Barr’s Roller Rink on Spectacle Lake. They married on February 27, 1965, and together raised three sons. In 1972, Dale and Kathy purchased their family farm in Dalbo, where they milked cows until 1986. Dale was a devoted father who always made time for his boys—whether playing the sport of the season or cheering them on from the sidelines. His care extended beyond his own family, as he played an important role in the lives of many others, especially his nephews Jay, Dan, and Steve Haverinen.
Dale’s first formal job was with North Central Gas Company, followed by carpentry work with Otterkill Company. He later joined Minuti Ogle, where he worked for 33 years on projects that included the Mall of America, the Metrodome, numerous churches, and local businesses. After retiring, Dale and Kathy enjoyed life as snowbirds, traveling in their fifth-wheel camper. During this time, Dale volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and embraced outdoor adventures.
Eventually, they returned home to be closer to their beloved grandchildren. Dale enjoyed pitching horseshoes, golfing with friends, and watching his children and grandchildren play sports—always their biggest fan.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Verne and Verna Benson; sisters Janice Peterson and Joyce Cusic; and brother Blaine Benson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathy; sons Randy (Christine), Chris (Cheryl), and Brad (Sara); grandchildren Rachel (Antonio), Becca, Jess (Tucker), Josh, and Lexi (Cole); great-grandchildren Lydia, Rose, Lane, and Alayna and siblings Karen Brom, Dolores Putz and Wayne Benson.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dale’s Oasis group in Princeton and to St. Croix Hospice and Sterling Pointe Memory Care for their exceptional care and support.
Memorial Service 11AM, Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Karmel Covenant Church. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment in the church cemetery.
