Claudia Bernice Hardy, 98, formerly of Cambridge, Minnesota, passed away on February 14, 2024, at the home of her son, Steve Hardy and his wife in Webster, Wisconsin. She was born September 6, 1925 to Harold and Gertrude Larson in Chicago, Illinois. Much of her extended family was from Door County, Wisconsin and she spent many summers there. Claudia attended high school in Des Plaines, Illinois and graduated from St. Paul Bible College in 1945. While she was in college, Claudia was part of a musical gospel team with one of her sisters and two of her cousins. They were touring southwest Minnesota when she met her future husband, Richard. They were married in St. Paul, Minnesota in June of 1946.
Claudia’s primary job was caring for her home and family. Her family feels that she was brilliant at this. From her home, she taught private piano lessons for over 40 years. She was actively involved at her church, where she played the organ for about 40 years. Until the last few years of her life, she was a member of the church’s missions prayer group. Her personal faith in Jesus was very important and influenced all aspects of her life. She was a fabulous cook, known especially for her caramel rolls.
Claudia is survived by all six of her siblings Trudy Ullmann, Dorothy Hartwig, Bud Larson, Lois Kilroy, Cynthia Martens and Carol Pinkalla; her three children Steve (LeAnne) Hardy, Bob (Nan) Hardy, and Patricia (Bob) Riley; seven grandchildren Katie Nave, Erika Hazelton, Kirsten Chalfant, Bryan Riley, Erina Riley, Adam Riley and Janna Riley; and five great-grandchildren Bella Nave, Alex Nave, Simeon Hazelton, Harry Chalfant and George Chalfant.
