Caroline Torell passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, at Mercy Hospital. In honoring Caroline’s memory, we are reminded of the impact one life can have on so many. Her story is one of living each day to the fullest. She has left us with memories that will continue to bring smiles and comfort to all who knew her.
Born on April 6, 1939, in Greenbush Township, Mille Lacs County. Caroline attended Princeton High School. She married the love of her life, Ronald Torell in 1957. They settled in the Cambridge area and built a home in Walbo in 1972, where she resided until 2021 when she moved into Riverwood Senior Living.
Her early work life she served patrons at the Arlington Restaurant. She took a position at the local Ben Franklin. She stayed home for a number of years before she started cleaning homes in North Oaks, where she was much appreciated for her meticulous care. In her later years, Caroline continued to spread quick wit and sarcastic humor as a server at the Cambridge Bar & Grill, endearing her to coworkers and customers alike.
Caroline was an avid fisherwoman, with her husband. She was a formidable cribbage player and would play weekly with her card group in Princeton for many years. She loved motorcycle rides, the casino and “pulling tabs”. Her competitive spirit shone through in her later years when she moved into Riverwood Senior Living, where she took up Wii bowling, hand & foot, bean bags, and karaoke. Through these activities, Caroline created countless memories and forged deep connections with those around her.
She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Ronald Torell, and survived by her children Ronda (Donald) Snow of Princeton, Kent (Robyn) Torell of Eagan, Brian (Sue) Torell of Blaine, and Machelle (Casey) Laase of Cambridge, seven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Caroline’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family, and friends, who will miss her deeply but take comfort in the memories of her spirited nature.
As we say goodbye to Caroline, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared with her. Love you Caroline, Grandma, Mom.
