Bonnie LaVonne Roberts, 82, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, at her home in Cambridge, Minnesota. Born on September 18, 1941 to Herbert and Verna (Bosell) Olson in Cambridge.
After graduating from Cambridge High School in 1959, Bonnie ventured to Minneapolis, where she worked at Dayton's downtown office.
Her heart found its match in Duane Roberts, whom she married on October 31, 1959, at the Wyanett Free Church Parsonage. Together, they welcomed their first son, Jeff, while living in Minneapolis. The family expanded with the births of Dean and Annette as they settled in Blaine and later moved to the Stanchfield/Springvale area to raise their children.
Bonnie's work career continued as an aide at the State Hospital, and later as a teacher's aide in Cambridge Schools. Her dedication to the well-being of others was evident in every role she took on, culminating in her retirement from Cambridge Primary School in 2001
Bonnie's retirement years were spent enjoying the company of her husband and their shared love for travel, wintering in Florida, Texas and then Arizona for 18 years making countless memories and friendships.
An active and vibrant soul, Bonnie's interests were as diverse as they were engaging. She was an avid golfer, participating in leagues in Arizona, Grandy, and Isanti. She also bowled leagues in Blaine, Cambridge and Isanti. Her sense of adventure also found expression in the Drift Dusters Snowmobile Club, where she shared her love for the outdoors with friends and family. Bonnie's creative talents shone through in her crocheting and knitting, while her competitive spirit was often on display during card games. A voracious reader, she also found solace and excitement in the pages of countless books.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Coleen Olson.
She is survived by her husband, Duane Roberts of Cambridge; her loving children, Jeff (Lori) Roberts of Stanchfield, Dean Roberts of Cambridge, and Annette Roberts (George Willson) of Cambridge; her grandchildren, Alyssa (Bryan) Timmerman of Princeton, Heather (Nathan) Oberg of St. Francis; and her great-grandchildren, Riley, Paisley, Wyatt Timmerman, and Delia, Greyson and Henrik Oberg; brothers Floyd Olson of Princeton, Lloyd (Mary) Olson of Cambridge, and Leslie Olson of St. Cloud, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Service 11AM, Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Karmel Covenant Church. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
