Betty Irene (McIntyre) Lundeen, 77, passed away December 26, 2021.
She was born June 22, 1944, to Charles and Fern McIntyre near Baudette, Minnesota, the fifth child (third surviving) and first daughter.
Her early years were spent on various farms and villages in northern Minnesota until the family moved to Longview, Washington, while her oldest brother served in the Korean Conflict. The family then returned to Minnesota, settling in the Oxlip area.
Betty graduated in 1962 from Cambridge High School. Following a brief time at St. Cloud State University, she worked as a waitress at the Nugget Cafe in Cambridge. She was also employed as a secretary in the main office of the Cambridge State Hospital.
Betty was baptized at Long Lake Lutheran Church December 26, 1964.
When she was 21, she married Philip O. Lundeen on August 14, 1965. She helped him on the farm while raising their three children, Elisabeth, Annette and Timothy. Betty was active at Long Lake Lutheran Church. She volunteered with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, LCW/WELCA, the Dorcas Circle and many other roles including serving on the Church Council. She was also active in the community with the neighborhood Ladies Bible Study, local Mother's Club as well as providing 4-H leadership at the club and county levels.
Betty enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and baking. She drove tractor, baled hay and cared for calves, pigs, lambs, cats and dogs, and almost always had at least one dog nearby. She maintained correspondence with faraway aunts and cousins, and was devoted to her extended family by birth and by marriage.
After the kids were grown, Betty returned to work, serving as church secretary until she joined Philip in retirement.
Betty was preceded in death by husband Philip; parents Charles and Fern; brothers and sisters-in-law Elmer and Ruby McIntyre, Gary McIntyre, Byron and Hazel McIntyre and Lawrence McIntyre; brother-in-law Mark Edin and nephew Randy McIntyre.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Lisa Lundeen, Annette Lundeen and Tim Lundeen; sister Sharon Edin; sister-in-law Elna Swanson; niece Tammi Nelson and many other relatives, neighbors and friends.
Her family would like to express their deep gratitude to the caring and devoted staff of Beehive Homes of Elk River, where Betty spent her final year.
