Allan Koczur Obituary

Allan R. Koczur, age 80, of Cambridge, MN, passed away on April 3, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN.

Al was born on March 9, 1946, in Little Falls, MN, to Joseph and Celia (Hylla) Koczur. He grew up with strong family values, a deep appreciation for hard work, faith, and community.

He graduated from Upsala High School in 1964 and went on to earn a degree in Mathematics and Coaching from St. Cloud State University. He later received his Master’s Degree from Mankato State University. His lifelong love of learning and dedication to education shaped a rewarding career that touched the lives of countless young people.

Al began his teaching career at Waterville High School, where he taught for six years before joining the Cambridge-Isanti Schools, where he served for 28 years. Al was more than an educator. He was a mentor, coach, and role model who believed in encouraging students to do their best both in the classroom and on the playing field. He coached football and boys basketball for a total of 34 years, guiding generations of athletes with patience, wisdom, and unwavering commitment.

Active in his community, Al generously volunteered his time with several organizations, including the Isanti County Pheasants Forever, the Isanti County Sportsman Club, the Lake Superior Steelhead Association, and the Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Isanti County Soil and Water Conservation Board.

He found great joy in the outdoors and simple pleasures: hunting, fishing, vegetable and flower gardening, and making sauerkraut. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he followed athletics with genuine passion. He and his wife Nancy were frequently seen together at basketball games, sharing in the excitement and spirit of the game.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Celia Koczur; his brother Roman; and his sister Elaine Clark.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, of Cambridge; his son, Brian Koczur and his wife, Jenny, of Duluth; and his grandchildren, Jacob and Molly. He is also survived by his brothers, Eugene Koczur of Florida and Jim Koczur and his wife, Mary, of Upsala; his sisters, Renee Beddow of Sauk Centre and Connie Tufte of Grants Pass, Oregon; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
