Paul Donald Torell, 83, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at the Cambridge Medical Center.
He was born December 24, 1939 in Grandy, Minnesota to Guy and Martha (Anderson) Torell. His father died when Paul was five years old so he went to live with his two uncles on the farm in Walbo. He attended the Walbo Country School and went on to Cambridge High School.
Paul was united in marriage to Ramona Braun on June 8, 1963 at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. They made their home in Cambridge, raising three children.
Paul worked various jobs over the years, he worked for Cliff Wyatt, at the Bethel Feed Mill and later construction work. He was a member of the Laborers Union and was later a member of the Bricklayers Union.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding snowmobiles and liked fast cars. Years ago, he had horses when the kids were growing up. He liked to talk about his John Deere tractors and always had in mind the next thing to buy. He always wanted to dream about what he would buy if he won the lottery and sharing his wealth with his family. He was the guy that would give his family his last dollar if they needed it. Paul will be truly missed.
Paul’s dementia started to worsen in the past two years which led to his decline in health and needing everyday assistance by his family. During this time, he became a very compassionate and caring man. He was always thanking everyone for their time spent helping him out. The last few months Paul’s health further declined. He moved to Prairie Senior Cottages in Isanti. The family wants to thank all the staff there.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ramona in July 2018, son Corey, granddaughter Chloe Torell, siblings Nancy Hertwig, Russell Torell and Ronald Torell.
Paul is survived by his son Greg Torell of Thief River Falls, daughter Gina (Charles) Johnson of Stanchfield, grandchildren Cory Torell, Frank (Nicole) Collins, Nicole Torell (fiancé Justin Reichel), Zach (Jeni) Torell, Ryan Johnson (fiancée Keely Wicklund), Lane Johnson, Coy Torell, Kelsey Torell and Keaton Torell, great grandchildren Elizabeth Reichel, Wyatt Torell, Bennett Reichel, Ezra Collins, Cannon Torell and Miles Torell, as well as many other relatives and friends.
